Dune Dash is one of those games you understand in two seconds and keep playing for an hour. A small white ball rolls across an endless desert of smooth, golden sand dunes. You press and release one button. Do it at the right moments and the ball flies higher and higher over the dunes. Do it at the wrong moments and it slows to a sad roll.
If you have ever played Tiny Wings, you know the feeling. Dune Dash is all about rhythm and momentum: going down slopes fast, flying off the tops, and landing just right to go even faster.

The game shows you the whole control scheme on the first screen, and it really is this simple:
Everything in Dune Dash comes down to one thing: where you land. Land on the downward side of a dune and your speed carries straight into the next slope. You get faster, fly higher, and the cycle continues. Land on an upward slope and you hit a wall of sand. The ball slows down and you have to rebuild your speed from scratch.
So the real game is the dive. When you are high in the air, look at the dune below you and hold to come down at exactly the right moment, so that you touch the sand just as the slope starts to go down.

Dune Dash is a calm game that is still hard to master. The soft colours and endless dunes are relaxing, but chasing a new best score needs real timing. It works perfectly on a phone, a tablet or a laptop, because it is all one button.
For more one-button momentum games, try Stickman Hook, Flappy Dunk or Space Waves. If you want to go downhill in another way, Snow Rider 3D is a great choice. Now hold, release, and fly.
